Brigadier Arun Sahgal (retired) is an independent consultant at the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies, and served in the Indian Army for over 36 years. He has a Master of Science in Defence Studies and a Ph.D in Defence and Strategic Studies, and served as the Director of the Office of Net Assessment.

Brigadier Arun Sahgal (retired) is an independent consultant at the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies, and served in the Indian Army for over 36 years. He has a Master of Science in Defence Studies and a Ph.D in Defence and Strategic Studies, and served as the Director of the Office of Net Assessment.
He has headed the Center for Strategic Studies and Simulation, the United Service Institution of India, a senior fellow of the Institute of Defence Studies and Analyses and a distinguished fellow of the School of Geopolitics at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
Saghal continues to support the Indian Joint Staff and Service Headquarters as a consultant and contributes to a variety of international and national journal. He consults for Jane’s Information Group and Booz Allen Hamilton. He has authored, co-authored, or contributed to a variety of Indian Net Assessment studies, books on Indian relations with China and Central Asia, and the military balance in Southern Asia.
