Dr. Soner Cagaptay has more than ten years of experience in academia and of professional work dealing with Turkey, the Balkans and other international issues. He is also a Senior Fellow and Director at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy’s Turkey Research Program.
Biography:
Dr. Soner Cagaptay has had over ten years of experience in academia and the professional work dealing with Turkey, the Balkans, and other international issues. As Senior Fellow and Director of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy’s Turkey Research Program, among other tasks he manage research on Turkey; supervises the research team; locates and recruits in-house and visiting scholars; organizes roundtable and panel discussions, conferences, workshops, and exchanges with senior officials, policymakers, journalists, and experts.
As an academic, Dr. Cagaptay has taught at Smith College, Georgetown University, the Department of State’s Foreign Service Institute, Princeton University and other institutions. He has also published multiple books, academic essays, and articles. Dr. Cagaptay is fluent in German, Bosnian-Serbo-Croatian, and Azerbaijani.
