Prof. Teresita Cruz-del Rosario has a long-standing interest and experience in development, devoting her professional career to analyzing and solving the problems confronting the developing world through academia and public administration. Aside serving with the Philippino Government’s Ministry of Agriculture and actively working with NGOs throughout Asia, her research and educational experience has spanned 20 countries that include consulting assignments with the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, the United Nations International Leadership Academy, among others.
Prof. Rosario is a member of the Development Studies Association and the International Sociological Association. Her recently published book Scripted Clashes (Verlag-DM 2009) employs a sociological perspective to explain the festive and quasi-religious character of uprisings in the Philippines. Tess has also published several articles in journals such as the Australian Journal of International Affairs, Indian Journal of Gender Studies, and Philippine Studies.
Some of Prof. Rosario’s former academic positions include Acting Dean at the Asian Institute of Technology, Secretary-General of the Greater Mekong Subregion Academic and Research Network (GMSARN), and Associate Professor and Assistant Dean at the Asian Institute of Management in the Philippines. Outside of academia, she served the government of Corazon Aquino as Assistant Secretary at the Department of Agrarian Reform, and as Technical Consultant to the Minister of Agriculture.
