Professor of Geopolitics at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan

Dr. Redaelli is the Associate Professor of Geopolitics and of History and Institutions of the Islamic Countries at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan. He is also the coordinator of the “Middle East – Global Issue” module at the Master of International Relations, and he is teaching “Institution Buildings in Post- Conflict Societies” at the Master of International Cooperation and Development of the Post Graduated School of Economy and International Relations.

Biography

Dr. Redaelli is the Associate Professor of Geopolitics and of History and Institutions of the Islamic Countries at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan. He is also the coordinator of the “Middle East – Global Issue” module at the Master of International Relations, and he is teaching “Institution Buildings in Post- Conflict Societies” at the Master of International Cooperation and Development of the Post Graduated School of Economy and International Relations (ASERI) at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan.
Between 2005 and 2012, Dr. Redaelli was the coordinator of a program of reconciliation among the Iraqi ethno-religious communities and of analysis of the political, security and economic scenarios for that country sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between 2005 and 2010 he coordinated a program of Scientific and Academic Cooperation with Iraq sponsored by the same Ministry.
Dr. Redaelli holds various positions. He is an Associate Researcher at the Institute for International Politics Studies in Milan. He is the scientific coordinator of the International Center of Geopolitics in Valenza. He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Center for the Peace in Middle East, and the Steering Committee of the Scientific Association Asia Maior.
Dr. Redaelli is currently coordinating a new program of the Italian MFA on Libya and its security and political issues. During the last twenty years, he has carried out extensive field-work in Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Gulf and Xinjiang. He coordinated research teams for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence, and has been a consultant for Programs of Scientific Re-direction in Iraq for the European Commission. His current research projects focus on contemporary history, international politics and ethno-political dynamics of South-West Asian Countries, in particular Iran, Iraq and Libya.
Dr. Redaelli is also a columnist on foreign policy issues for the Italian Newspaper Avvenire and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal Storia Urbana. He has has published more than 100 articles, books and essays.
