A new day in Afghanistan? Exploring outcomes for the US-Taliban Peace Talks

Following 18 years of war and months of negotiation efforts, the US-Taliban peace talks seem to be on the verge of a breakthrough. According to reports, by the ninth round of negotiations (August 22), most of the significant issues have been resolved, and focus has shifted towards coordinating the small details. The deal on the table includes the withdrawal of the 20,000 US-led NATO security personnel from Afghanistan, in return for the Taliban security guarantees.
