Biography

Dr. Gregory Bodeker is a research scientist with the National Institute of Water & Atmospheric Research (NIWA) and is based at Lauder in Central Otago. His particular interest is the study of ozone in the atmosphere. He leads a research project that aims to determine the variability in ozone over New Zealand and to develop models that can provide predictions of ozone levels.

Dr. Bodeker grew up in South Africa and always had a strong interest in scientific research. In 1990, he over-wintered in Antarctica, making measurements related to the ionosphere and taking photos of aurora. He has been working at NIWA since 1994.
