The death of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Jina Mahsa Amini on September 16 sparked demonstrations and violent crackdowns on the streets of Iran. These protests, which call for political change in the Islamic Republic, have rocked the country for the past few weeks and have already been defined by some commentators as “the death knell of the Islamic Republic.” To assess the significance and likely impact of the current protests on the stability and future of Iran, Wikistrat asked two top Iran experts, Dr. Raz Zimmt and Dr. Ali Fathollah-Nejad, for their analysis of these events.
