Wildfires in a Drying Iran: Tehran’s Water Crisis Meets a System Unprepared

Two wildfires are burning across Iran, including one in the UNESCO-listed Hyrcanian forests, just as Tehran faces its worst water crisis in six decades and the country suffocates under dangerous air pollution from burning heavy fuel oil. Together, these converging crises expose resource gaps, crisis management failures, and the potential loss of a natural heritage older than Persian civilization itself.
