Exploring the tensions in Kashmir

Updated: Sep 19, 2023

On 5 August 2019, the Government of India revoked the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370. Jammu and Kashmir is a state in India, located in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent, and a part of the broader region of Kashmir, which has been the subject of dispute between India, Pakistan, and China since 1947.

In response to India's actions, Pakistan called for a special session of parliament and launched an all-out campaign against India at all possible levels. Imran Khan downgraded diplomatic relations with India, sent out emissaries to the UN, China, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to up the ante against India, and warned of another Pulwama kind of terror incident.
